Hi Robert,
I hope this message finds you...or you find it! I may have a connection. I tried
e-mailing you but the address is no longer valid. I think your uncle may be one of the
"sons" I refer to below...
I am trying to find out information about Callaghans in Australia, specifically Sydney in
the 30's onwards. I believe there was a family who sailed from Ireland to Australia
around this time. There was a father who was in the Navy at some point with the British.
He had a few sons...I believe one was named Patrick, who I believe may have been the
eldest and possibly a pilot. One was possibly called Michael, one possibly Dennis. One
of the sons (Michael I think) left home and never returned. I believe their mother's
name was Kelly. It is my understanding that she died giving birth to the one son who left
and never returned. It is also my understanding that the father re-married and the boys
had a step-mother. THe family had some sort of construction business. They also had a
car lot, or sold or fixed cars. The father was also a "Golden Glove" champion
(boxing) or so I've been told.
Robert, at the risk of giving out too much information...if ANY of this sounds familiar to
you, please don't hesitate to contact me. The son who left home and never returned no
longer lives in Sydney...he's in his 70's...I think there may be a connection.
Kelly
