Hi Jan,
I noticed in your post that you had CALLAGHANs in Illinois. In Bloomington, McLean
County, by any chance?
I have Jeremiah CALLAGHAN, a bachelor, in Bloomington in the 1870 Census. And also with
wife and one child in 1880 Census. I have no idea of how he got to Bloomington or of
where he might have gone after 1880, if anywhere. But neither he nor his wife appears to
be in the Catholic cemetery in Bloomington.
Then I pick up one daughter, Julia Clare Callaghan from the 1880 Census, marrying Thomas
F. Greene in Chicago in June 1891 (and there are a variety of Jeremiah Callaghans in the
big city, but no way yet to tell if any are mine, as I don't have Julia's street
address and cannot read the two initials indicating the parish church on the marriage
record (ink blot).
Any connections?
Maureen Shelly
