Virginia E. Call, JAFFREY

JAFFREY-Virginia E. (Bettinson) Call, 86, died yesterday at the
Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. She was born in Antrim,
the daughter of Edgar and Blanche (Rowe) Bettinson. She lived in Boscawen
and Penacook for more than 50 years before moving to Jaffrey in 1994.
During World War II, Call worked for the Brezner Tannery in Penacook. She
retired from Beede Electric Instrument Company Inc. She was a member of
the Henniker Congregational Church and the E.V.E. Group in Boscawen.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Daigle of Jaffrey; four half-brothers,
Edgar Whitcomb, Robert Bettinson and Fred Bettinson of Massachusetts and
Byron Whitcomb of Belmont; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
three great-great-grandsons; and several nieces. Her husband, Eugene Call,
died in December 1945; a daughter, Jean Cote, and a brother, Charles
Whitcomb, also died previously. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to
8 p.m. at the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Henniker. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Holt-Woodbury
Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Russell Rowland, pastor of the Henniker
Congregational Church, will officiate. Donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society Memorial Giving Program, Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360
Route 101 Unit 501 Bedford 03110.
