CALL, Mary Frances
daughter of Reverend Samuel CALL & Mary (DOUD)
Reverend CALL was a Methodist minister
Mary Frances CALL b. 3/24/1868 in Potsdam, New York
lived with her parents until they died.
As far as I can tell she taught school in Syracuse, New York.
From the Syracuse Herald-Journal dated December 7, 1949
Mary Frances CALL, died at age 85 on November 30th, 1949 in Kansas City, MO.
She graduated from music department of Potsdam Normal School in 1888.
The article stated that she taught school in New Rochelle & N.C. before
going to Kansas City about 45 yrs prior to her death.
However, her parents' names were incorrect, so might be where she taught
school.
Does anyone recall her as a teacher? or know where she taught school.
In the 1920 census she was living on University (?Avenue) in Syracuse, NY
and teaching High School, but I do not know which high school.
We are assuming the Mary Frances CALL who died in Kansas City, Missouri is
one and same even though her parents are listed as William and Elizabeth (DOUD)
CALL which would have been her Uncle and Aunt. (her father, Samuel's
brother).
Mary F. CALL was still in Syracuse in the 1930 census at age 66 (Roll 1630;
page:3A; Enumeration District: 105;) and that she owned a radio. All the
information that was available. I will go through 1930 census page by page and
see what I come up with for further documentation.
Therefore her being in Kansas City, MO for 45 yrs would be incorrect would
be more like around 20 to 25 years. But there are always errors; perhaps the
45 was meant to be more like 25 years.
Looking forward to hearing from kin or students, friends or neighbors.
Thank you
Judy
