Hi, I'm Bob Call your new List Admin. My Call's have only been Call since my
grandfather's generation, before that they were Kall. My great grandfather
came from Kallstadt, Pfalz, Bayern at the age of seven with his parents and
younger sisters in 1836.
The family first settled on a farm outside of Pittsburg where they were
counted on the 1840 census, a 1919 biography of one of Grandpa's brothers
says the family stayed it that area, with G-G moving to Indianapolis just
prior to 1860. However, I have found his marriage record which puts him in
that area in 1853. Ah, Ludwig Kall groom Harriet Isabel Cunnungham bride.
Her family was so mad that she married a German they disowned her. Which
explains the 1860 census listing him as Lewis Call. A couple of legal papers
after that date still had him as Kall. but all the kids were Call and raised
Methodist instead of Lutheran. They were back in PA by 1863 and stayed
there.
Well, those are my Calls, who are yours?
Bob
