Need proof and sources. We have received a source from the History of
Woodstock and Genealogies of Woodstock Families 3:141 that show the following
children WERE born in Woodstock, Windham County, CT:
John Masters CALL b. August 17, 1760
Eunice CALL b Apr 5, 1760 (maybe this was suppose to be 1761)
Betsey CALL b Jan 10, 1766
Electa b Mar 1775
Considering that James CALL, Senior with his 20 to 22 children, there had to
be more children born between 1766 and 1775; (keep in mind he served out of
State of Vermont in the Revolutionary War). He could have returned to
Woodstock, CT. (in other words had children in another State then returned to CT).
We are trying to locate ALL the children (with proof of where they were born
and dates of their birth including sources) of James CALL, Sr & Hannah
(Rebecca) MASTERS (aka MARSTERS, MASTES) he married her on March 8, 1757 in
Leicester, Worcester, MA:
There is proof that some were born in Woodstock, Windham County, CT; but not
all of them were;
Keep in mind that James CALL, Senior was married three (3) times and was
known as a "wanderer".
James CALL, Senior, born Sept 2, 1728 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, MA
(son of Samuel and Abigail SPRAGUE) also served in the Revolutionary War but
from the state of Vermont.
We are seeking one Silas CALL, son??? or was he a nephew??? or a what kind
of kin???, who married Polly (aka Polley) WHITNEY (daughter of Jonathan WHITNEY
and Mary WOODARD). Silas married Polly on Oct 21, 1802 in Hartford,
Windsor County, VT. This might mean that he grew up in VT; perhaps this Silas was
born in VERMONT.
Silas CALL & Polly WHITNEY had 12 (TWELVE) children:
Of their known children and through census records, death records, marriage
records, civil war affidavit(s), these children waver back and forth to where
their father Silas CALL was born; Vermont & NH; never has CT been used as a
birth place of their father:
These are the children who say:
Ira CALL--Father born in NH; mother born VT
Harriet CALL--Father born in VT; Mother born VT
Silas CALL--Father born NH; Mother born VT
Ophelia CALL---Father born NH; Mother born MASS
in one other source: Ophelia CALL--Father born VT; Mother born VT.
Therefore, our Silas CALL who married Polly Whitney must have been born
either in New Hampshire or Vermont.
Here are the following children of James CALL and Hannah (aka Rebecca)
MASTERS (aka MARSTERS, MASTES):
Abigail CALL, born Jan 14, 1758
James CALL, born Mary 14, 1760
Eunice CALL, born 1761
John Masters CALL, born Aug 17, 1761
Asa CALL, born abt 1763
Luther CALL, born abt 1765
Betsy CALL born Jan 20, 1766
Mary CALL born abt 1767
Silas CALL born ??? some say 1769
Electa CALL born Mar 1775
Were ALL these children born in Woodstock, Windham County, CT????
I would think it was doubtful since James wandered around so much unless the
wife stayed put. The fact that Silas married Polly in VT. The fact that
James CALL, Sr, served in the Rev. War out of the state of VT.
Someone out there has the proof and sources that we need;
ancestry.com does
not provide all sources; and a lot of that info has been copied from what
someone else has entered.
Thank you so much.
