Subject: [NYERIE] OLD ERIE CO. PHOTOS FOUND IN TEXAS
Dear List,
Recently I purchased a group of old cabinet card photos from Erie County,
NY.
I found this group of photos in Central Texas at an Antique Fair. I try
to
purchase old identified photos when I find them. Precious few have any ID
on
them, the rest are lost forever.
I have no connection to any of these families: I just happened to be the
one
who saw them, and rescued them. I am going to list the surnames & area
(if
it is there) on these photos. I believe the families connect some way as
they
were all together. Needless to say, finding a rather large group of
photos
from Western NY in Central Texas is a bit unusual. If you would like more
info
on any of these photos, please contact me privately at: jmje36(a)aol.com.
Most
of the photos are in excellent condition. Somebody has cared for me for
years.
ERIE CO. SURNAMES INCLUDED ARE:
(1) Grandpa John & Grandma Margrette Pitts (Springville)
(2) Maude Pitts great uncle, Walt Pitts (this one taken in Rochester,
NY)
(3) Albert & Mary Bessenger (Buffalo) could be a wedding photo
(4) Ruby Harris, age 3 years (Hamburg) Picture taken May 17, 1883
(5) Henry Sthulmer/Sluhlmeler OR Matt Pitts (Springville)
(6) Nettie Pronty (Buffalo) Picture taken Aug 10, 1885
(7) Katherine & Mary Cook: "Frank Cook's sisters" (Buffalo)
There were other photos in this group, but not Erie County locations.
Some
of those names include: "Charles Hugh Caulkins", 1 year old: Mar 26,
1881,
no location on photo: "Gertrude Crowell", Cattaraugus Co. NY:
"Crons/Cronze"
several photos. Believe these persons connect to the Pitts: photos taken
in
St. Louis, MO: "Emma Boardway & Nick Winter", 2 photos, photographer is
the
same: Cattaraugus Co. NY, and "Mrs. N. Winter, and son, Francis Winter"
(postcard style photo).
I am able to provide additional info on any photo if you may be
interested.
Thank you, Judy in
