Keeseville — James H. Calkins, 66, of Pine Tree Drive, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at
the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Aug. 29, 1935, the son of Halsey and Genevieve (Garrant)
Calkins.
Jim married the former Caroline Caska on July 7, 1956, in Plattsburgh.
He retired from Imperial Wallcoverings in Plattsburgh following 40 years of service.
Mr. Calkins was a 26 year member of the Keeseville Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks
2072. He enjoyed camping, boating and taking drives with his wife throughout the North
Country.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Calkins, of Keeseville; his mother, Mrs. Genevieve
Calkins of Peru; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Marylou Calkins of Peru and
Joseph and Norine Calkins of Keeseville; five grandchildren, Erin, Michael, Joseph, John
and Kevin; one great-grandson, Kyle Calkins; and one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia
and Joseph Gero of Dannemora.
He was predeceased by his father; and one sister, Theresa Kilgore.
Calling hours will be held Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral
Home in Peru. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge will meet at the funeral home for a
2:30 p.m. service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at
St. John's Church in Keeseville, with Rev. Garvin Demarais, pastor, celebrating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center in Plattsburgh.
