Hi Patti,
By the 1820's the Calkin family had spread out across much of the US and
into Canada. The highest concentration of Calkins, though, lived along
the Northern Atlantic States - Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York,
etc. You might try searching the census Indexs for those states for the
surnames McKagues and Calkin.
K.S.Calkin
This is a round about querry but maybesomeone on this list can help.
I am
trying to research my mothers maiden name but I swear these people
were
ghost. I have came across a group of 4 McKagues with the correct names
for
some of the original emigrants children and the right time frame who
all
married Calkins. Since I am getting nowhere researching the name
McKague I
have decided to try the families that they married into instead.
The
gencom listing had nothing on the McKagues other then their names
however
here is the info on the Calkins that they married. The parents of all
four
was listed as ELIJAH SELBY CALKINS and ELIZABETH JANE ALLEN. The
children
were FANNY MARIAH CALKINS born 1838 married Robert McKague, ALLAN
SELBY
CALKINS born 1825 married ROSANNA MCKAGUE, JAMES NELSON CALKINS born
1829
married CLARISSA MCKAGUE, and LUTHER CALKINS born 1816 married
SABRINA
MCKAGUE. Do you have any info on these people. If I can find where
they
lived I can put out querries in that area.
Thanks
Patti
