OK! Here's my wife Phyllis's Calkins line:
(1) Hugh CALKINS (1603 - 1690) & Ann EATON? (ca1605 - 1688)
(2) David CALKINS (1639 - 1717) & Mary BLISS (1649 - ca1700)
(3) Joseph CALKINS (1694 - 1764) & Lucretia TURNER (1701 - >1764)
(4) David CALKINS (1726 - 1799) & Hannah LEACH
(5) Asa CALKINS* (1754 - ca1828) & Mary (UNKNOWN)
(6) Daniel CALKINS (1778 - 1827) & Phebe - ( - >1827)
(7) Daniel CALKINS (1809 - 1867) & Nancy H. LAWRENCE (1811
- >1867)
(8) Albert CALKINS (1847 - 1910) & Amelia "Millie"
MYERS
(1857 - 1928)
(9) Lillie Florence CALKINS (1872 - 1909) & Robert
Henry HOFFMAN (1864 - 1942)
My burning question is about a sister (or sisters) of Albert. The Calkins
association lists both Almira and Elvira, but letters from their nieces, in
the Bert Calkins and Helen Sharps manuscripts, list only one or the other,
not both.
Ora Gates wrote "Almira" to Bert Calkins.
Cora Proctor wrote "Elvira" to Bert Calkins.
Myrtle Bradley wrote "Alvira" to Helen Sharps.
My opinion is that there was no "Almira" in this family. She may have been a
sister of (7) Daniel, rather than a daughter. Civil War pension documents
prove that Elvira was indeed Albert's sister. Anyone have something more on
this?
