Laura--
I am also researching CAULKINS but possibly a different line. This list hasn't been
very active but I will post what I have also, in hopes that we can make some connections
with others. I want to make you aware of the Calkins Family Assoc. and the GenForum web
site for Calkins (and variation of spellings) because they have proven helpful. Let me
know if you need more info on either one.
Isaac CAULKINS and unknown wife had the following children:
Hiram CAULKINS b c July 1810 KY d Dec. 29, 1885
m Rachel Stanley b 1822 ?
Nancy CAULKINS m Unknown Sammons
Nehemia CAULKINS
Polly/Mary CAULKINS m Jan. 29, 1849 John C. Rogers in Morgan Co., IL
William CAULKINS b c 1816 KY m Mar. 5, 1839 Maryette OLDS b c 1818 in Morgan Co., IL
Elizabeth Jane CAULKINS m William C. Johnson
Hiram is in the Iowa Territory in 1840 as a head of a household. Many of his descendants I
found recently were buried in Marion County, IA.
I am a descendant of William Caulkins who came to IL (along with his father and at least a
sister) in the 1830s. I have a copy of Isaac Caulkins' land grants in Morgan County,
IL. I would love it if we could find a connection with your Caulkins line.
Where is/was Cottage, IL? I don't find it in my atlas. Are David and Sally the
parents of John T. ?
