This is taken from my families military book of ancestors who had served
in the military anytime from the Revolutionary war in 1775 to present
day time being served. I have some information on each of these people .
There are a few i don't but with alittle bit of time and contact with
some family, i may be able to get it, so if i can help you email me and
let me know and in return you may be able to help me in the future when
i start searching this line more.
WILLIAM, PATRICK, AND JAMES CALHOUN WERE BROTHERS WHO CAME FROM THE
NORTH OF IRELAND IN 1733. THEY SETTLED IN AUGUSTA COUNTY, VA.
IN 1756 JAMES WAS A CAPTAIN OF A TROOP OF HORSES. PATRICK WAS THE
FATHER OF JOHN CALDWELL CALHOUN***, A FAMOUS STATESMAN FROM SOUTH
CAROLINA, HE WAS A MEMBER OF CONGRESS, SECRETARY OF WAR, VICE PRESIDENT
WITH BOTH ADAMS AND JACKSON, SECRETARY OF STATE, AND SENATOR FROM SOUTH
CAROLINA.
WILLIAM BROTHER OF PATRICK AND JAMES, HAD A SON WILLIAM.
WILLIAM HAD A SON JOHN.
JOHN HAD A SON WILLIAM
WILLIAM HAD A SON AARON
AARON HAD A SON WINFIELD SCOTT
WINFIELD SCOTT HAD A SON MARTIN DOW

John C. Calhoun, Southern Statesman
One of the most powerful and honest chanpions of slavery. Calhoun
saw the division that could seperate the free states from the slave
states. He was anxious, however, to preserve the Union. For it to
survive a civil war he considered impossible. Though mistaken in some of
his judgements, he was a sincere patriot and a farsighted statesman.
