It is unlikely that you will find a passenger list for a ship bringing British subject to
one of the American colonies. The colonial officials were generally not concerned about
British subjects entering the British colonies. It was the "foreigners" that
they worried about. The officials at the port of Philadelphia kept few records on British
subjects coming through the port, but they faithfully recorded thousands of German
settlers, about whom they were more than a little suspicious.
That said, my own Calhoun line is a dead end at my great grandfather, John Calhoun, who
died in Pittsburgh, PA in the 1930's. His son, my grandfather, John Donald Calhoun,
was born in 1896 in Rochester, PA, and died in 1922 in Pittsburgh.
On John Donald's mother's side, the Germans who entered in the early 1700's
were all nicely recorded.
