CALHOUN, Willie Louise 78, of Springfield, born to William H. and Pauline J. (Hutchinson)
Calhoun left her temporary assignment on earth surrounded by her family and friends on
Friday, May 16, 2014.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend.
Known for her friendly nature, good cooking and gardening.
She graduated from Springfield High School and in 1997 retired from Housekeeping at
Wittenberg University.
A longtime member of Highlight Baptist Church and in latter years attended Greater Grace
Temple.
Willie is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Hayes and Karolenn (KT) Calhoun-Willis; one
son, Richard "Dickie" Calhoun; three remaining siblings, Marion Thomas, Franklin
(Judy) Calhoun and Adeliade Calhoun all of Springfield; grandchildren, Brian (Garimah)
Hayes, Richard "Snuff" Calhoun and William "OZ" Calhoun and her
adopted grandson, Ronald Graves of Navaree, Florida.
She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, including a special niece,
Melissa Doughty; nephews, including a dear nephew, Gerald (Jerry) Thomas of Seattle,
Washington; cousins, including dear cousins, Veena Turner of New York, N.Y. and
Wilimantine Elam of Nashville, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond "Buck" and
Jackson "Jack" Calhoun; a sister, Patricia "PJ" and a longtime, dear
friend, Ira Upchurch.
The Family would like to thank those who lovingly cared for her during her time of need,
including Community Hospice, as well as her caregivers, Denise Moore and Sherell Mapp.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Greater Grace Temple from 10 a.m. until the
time of service at 12 noon, with the family present at 11 a.m. Bishop Ronald M. Logan is
officiating. Interment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, OH
Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
