I too am researching JAMES CALHOUN for a friend. There has been little
response from this list, but don't give up after so short a time. It takes
time to find our elusive ancestors, but it is oh so rewarding when we find a
little string to go on. Not much is known about James except that he was
born in 1850 or near that time. He was married to AMANDA WILLIAMS, and
raised a family in south ALABAMA between PIKE and HOUSTON COUNTIES.
Hang in there, something will break sooner or later. Mary in ALABAMA

Subject: [CALHOUN] James Calhoun family
Just joined the List. We are just about to give up, but the Calhoun
Motto
is "If I can" so here is one more try.
James Calhoun and his wife Nancy were m. in PA. Their first child Frances
F. Calhoun
was b. in PA (she m. Robert Lester) and the rest of the family
was b. in Daviess Co., IN. I am a descendant of Robert C. B. Calhoun who was
b. in Sept. 1822 in Daviess Co., IN and Eliza Goodman, they married, had
children and lived in Vigo Co., IN.
We read in the Orval Calhoun Vol. III, that he was the son of John Calhoun
and Ann
Finton and this family was from Allegheny Co., PA. Is there anyone
out there working on this family. WE have more information that we would
love to exchange.
Zabette (Calhoun) Elam
