Hi Ken. I believe the person who put that record online is incorrect. I
would hope it is correct, but cannot find any actual documentation to prove
it. Some actual documentation on my Sarah that I do have, has conflicting
dates for her birth and death, and I cannot find what records were used to
confirm her marriage. There is at least one person who has posted incorrect
data (Robinson and Brandon info back to Calhoun) about this family online
and I am just trying to verify before I assume anything.
All census records, etc say that Sarah F. Calhoun who married (presumed name
Walter) Robinson was born in 1830. They would have married previous to 1849
and they had known children Mary (1850) Emma Calhoun (1851) and Walter John
(July of 1857) before her husband died or left in 1858.
In 1859 she married Dr. Allen P Morris in Montgomery AL and by 1860 they
were living in Louisiana. She and Dr Morris had two more children James and
Sarah F (aka Fannie) Morris, and in 1869 she died in Winn Parish La.
I have records to prove what I know so far if you would like them for your
Calhoun records. I am still looking for info on her marriage and childrens
births, and her husbands information including his probable death in 1858 in
Georgia. They are undocumentable so far before her 1859 second marraige to
Dr Morris. I have some family stories about her being related to John C
Calhoun, and about being knowledgeable in music and lacemaking. She
supposedly taught neighbor children music in Ga and La, and was religious
(presbyterian- from Ireland originally) The stories are interesting and
helpful but are not yet provable and she is still very much a mystery as is
her husband Mr or Dr Walter Robinson.
Thanks so much for trying to help me clear this up. Any help finding any
marriage records or documentation for Sarah F Calhoun or Walter Robinson or
their kids would be wonderful. Thanks so much.
You are appreciated!
Diane

Hi Diane.....
James Ewing CALHOUN (my 1st. cousin 5 times removed) had a daughter named
Sarah CALHOUN. According to my notes, she was born 21 July 1818 in Vienna,
Abbeville Dist, SC (this info is confirmed by: "Colonial Families in the
USA", Vol. 7, pages 128/129; "Old Pendleton Dist. OPDGS Data Project";
and
"Family Search AFN"
Sarah died on 21 Jul 1862 in Texas.
She married a Walter J. ROBINSON (Family Search AFN) and they had a
daughter
named: Emma Calhoun ROBINSON, b. abt 1855 and married a John Adam BRANDON
in
1877 at Anderson Co., Texas (Family Search AFN).

Does your family by any chance have connections to Robinson family? The
reason I ask is that my ancestor Sarah F Calhoun also "dropped out of the
sky" even though the census records say that she was born 1830 in GA and
married there and had kids there. She married Mr Robinson (Walter?) and
had
kids that included Mary Robinson (b. about 1850) and Emma Calhoun Robinson
(born about 1851) and Walter John Robinson (b in 1857.)
Her husband died (or left - we have no records of him yet!) in 1858. In
1859
she married Dr Allen P. Morris and moved to Louisiana. She had two more
children and died in Louisiana in 1869. Her children and widow all moved
to
Texas by 1880.
I keep hearing of a Sarah Calhoun who almost fits the description but the
years just dont match up. I cannot document anything on the birth or
marriage or kids or anything about Sarah Frances Calhoun Robinson Morris
before her 1859 marriage to Dr Morris.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks,
Diane
