From the Mobile, AL newspaper, Saturday Sept. 10, 1908
"Mr. Joseph R. Calhoun , a native of Mobile, in the employ of the American Laundry,
was yesterday afternoon taken violently ill on North Conception street near State street,
while delivering goods upon Beauregard street. ... He died in the physician's office.
...
"Mr. Calhoun is said to have eaten very heartily of ham, as well as deviled ham,
while on his wagon during the day." Dr. H.P. Hirshfield , coroner, and Dr. P.J.M.
Acker conducted the postmortem examination.
