Hi Ken and all,
I wanted to let you know that much of that information about Sarah (presumed
name Calhoun) marrying Dr William C Robinson in Georgia and having kids Mary
C, Emma C, and Walter Robinson is incorrect. It is based on family stories
that have now been proven beyond a doubt false.
The family story was that Emma C Robinson's middle name was Calhoun, for her
mothers maiden name.
That has never been proven, and is more likely that her middle name C was
the same as her fathers, which may or may not have been Calhoun or Christian
or some other name we do not know of as yet. Any relationship to a CALHOUN
family at all is mere conjecture, and has not yet been proven.
Emma's middle name is still unknown, although it is listed a initial "C"
everywhere we look. We do not know where the family got the extensive story
of Emma's mother Sarah being a Calhoun and related to John Caldwell Calhoun
and also of a connection to a Delaney family. There may still be a Calhoun
connection but we are unsure of what it is.
Emma's sister Mary also had the middle initial "C" when she was younger,
but
after about 1860 or so we believe her mother changed the children's names
slightly to protect them from the Robinsons trying to find the children.
(The mother Sarah was escaping a court order to remand the children to the
custody of the Robinson uncles in GA after the 1858 death of the father.
Sarah F Morgan Robinson remarried a Dr A.P. Morris and left GA for LA in
1859.) Mary went by middle name Louise in records after 1870 in Texas, and
married John Kelton Clark in Bosque Co TX.
Walter John Robinson b 1857 GA was their only brother, and his name was
originally John Walter Robinson.
The parents of these three Robinson children were Sarah Frances Morgan, born
1830 in Jasper Co Georgia. We believe her parents were Stokely Morgan & Mary
Evans of GA.
She is not the same Sarah Calhoun as we previously were investigating as
considered.

I hope this helps. This has taken many years to investigate, source and
verify, and we are still looking for further evidence on Sarah's parentage.
(I have that her parents were Hiram Morgan and Susannah "Sally" Ware, but
that was not verified. Stokely Morgan's family Bible records trump my lack
of birth info or dates for Hiram/Sally having a daughter named Sarah!)
If anyone can add anything connecting these families with a Calhoun family I
would appreciate an email about it. Thanks again for all of your assistance.
Diane

I appreciate your post. I am not related, but have lots of kin in Tehuacana,
and am looking for early "wigwam" editions or listings of my relatives at
either trinity or Westminister or other student listings in the area from
1890 to 1940ish (Smith, Robinson, Brandon Bounds especially.) I have family
stories of being connected to the Calhouns but have not yet been able to
prove it. Supposedly Emma C Robinson b 1850 GA who married John A. Brandon
1872 and lived in Tehuacana after 1879 and is buried in Wortham, was
daughter of Sarah Robinson whose maiden name was Calhoun. That was found to
be false, and we do not know what Emma's middle initial C stands for.
Sarah Frances Morgan (not Calhoun as far as we can tell at any time) married
William C Robinson in GA and then after his death in 1858 married A.P.
Morris and lived in LA.
Her daughters Emma and Mary and her son Walter Robinson all lived in Texas,
and their kids and descendants settled the area surrounding Tehuacana. My
great grandparents (Mary Frances (aka Minnie) Brandon and her future husband
Wade Hampton Smith, both born 1888) both went to school in Tehuacana, and we
believe Wade H may have taught school - perhaps piano lessons, in Tehuacana.
Do you have any Tehuacana records of any kind that may help me look for
school records for them? I would appreciate your help and would be glad to
help your research if there is anything I can do.
Diane
