Thanks for your reply re my last posting. I am tryng to connect my dots up the Calhoun
family line beyond (before) my 3rd great grandfather David Calhoun who was born in about
1790. He married Eady or Eda Ayers and they lived in KY in around 1816. Their son Thomas
(b. 1826) is my great great grandfather. His son Hiram was born in 1853 and his son (b.
1897) was TAYLOR Padgett Calhoun (my grandfather).
A recently discovered cousin from KY thinks our David's father was also named David
and I am wondering if it may be James and Sarah Taylor's son David. I am especially
curious about that possibility since my grandad's first name was TAYLOR and I find no
evidence of any other Taylor in our line.
Do you have any info on James and Sarah Taylor's son David?
I have an old record of a David Calhoun living in Augusta CO. VA in the latter half of the
18th C. That is where Patrick Calhoun and his mother (Catherine Montgomery)and other
relatives traveled before going on to S.C. sometime in the 1750s, of course.
I also have found evidence that Hugh Calhoun may have lived in Augusta Co. VA prior to
returning to Ireland. His wife (McCleary)died and was buried in Augusta Co. (now Wythe
Co.), VA.
I would love to learn more about James' son David, as well as all of David and Eleanor
King's sons.
The Calhoun clan is a bit maddening to trace since they all seemed to repeat a handful of
the same names each generation.
Thanks for any more info you may pass along.
