Does anyone have anymore information such as children or a will of John Calhoun died in
June 1792 in South Carolina. I've seen died in Berkeley, but Berkely didn't exist
in 1792 and I've seen Fairfield County. I am leaning towards the belief that John is
the father of Alexander, James and William (my line), but I'm having a hard time
getting proof. So far, searches in Fairfield County, SC have turned up a probate record in
the June, 1792 term of Court in Fairfield County where John Cameron appeared to prove the
will of John Colhoun/Calhoun and my William is the executor of this will. The will itself
cannot be uncovered, so far. I have land records which go back to 1787 Camden District for
William and his brother James - at that time spelled Colhoune. I have the wills of James
and William which I will be glad to share. James mentions some nieces and nephews some of
which are William's children and some may be Alexander's children. However, like
all the Calhouns these names !
all tie in, but they do show up in the line of Hugh Calhoun. Any thoughts at this point
will be appreciated. Irma Perry Sohnchen
