Hello Andrew since you started my understanding of E1b1b1a2i A, I am a Kilpatrick and I
have found another person a Kirk(I think he has written to you) who shares my passion.
We are both trying to get as many Colquhouns,Calhouns,Kirkpatricks, Kilpatricks,Kirks etc
onto some sought of data base. The idea is to calculate the generation match with an
estimated year of the match with a common ancestor.
Our researh shows that we match at a common ancestor around 780AD. Interestingly the
Scottish Roman catholic Church and the Celtic Rom,an catholic Church had a disagreement
with each other around 800AD and the Scottish Roman Catholics kept the name Kilpatrick
whereas the Celtic Roman Catholic Church chose to change the name to Kirkpatrick.
Umfridas de Kilpatrick also known as Humphrey de Kilpatrick obtained the lands of
Colquhoun around 1200AD his son is supposed to have changed his surname to
Colquhoun.Myself and my associate Kirk belong to a special cluster group E1b1b1a2-A and
that Colquhouns and Calhouns etc also belong there.
It has been written that Humphrey de Kilpatrick arrived in Scotland with the Normans,
however if myself and Mr Kirk share a common ancestor at 780AD and we are related through
DNA to people with the name Calhoun and variants I believe Humphrey could not have been
Norman.
We have had contact with a few Calhouns from North Carolina where John Caldwell Calhoun
lived.
Cheers Ross
