Does the Calhoun surname have any families of Indian
descent? Were Indians legally recognized in Upstate
New York (stronghold of the Iroquois Nation), at the
turn of the 19th century? It would seem that Indian
families that may have lived in the area at that time,
may have had their ethnic identity concealed from the
public record. I am looking for any information
relating to Frances “Fanny” S. CALHOUN b.
July 1846 d. 1926, and if she is Native American. All
that if have is circumstantial evidence.
