QRYTEXT: Maybe I can give you a helpful suggestion or a false lead, I am
not sure. My great grandfather was John Newton Calhoun b. 1809. He was
named according to family legend for a well know teacher/preacher of
that time. His brother, Warren Walker Calhoun, named two of his sons
Augustus Newton Calhoun b. 1825 and Henry Newton Calhoun b. 1865. Sorry,
I do not know all the history on their childen. My great grandfather's
son, Henry Newton Calhoun, died at age nineteen. My grandfather's
daughter, Mary Jane Calhoun, married a T. B. Thompson. The family has a
habit of naming children after relatives so this may be how your Newton
Thompson Calhoun got his name. This branch of the Tennessee Calhouns
settled around Glenmora, La. in Rapadies Parish..
