Here is what I know:
Butler County, AL Probate Records order appraisal of dec'd. Jordan M. Calhoun's
444 estate in 1866.
Jordan Marion Calhoun (Marion, J.M.), 9th AL Regiment, Company G (Jeff Davis Rifle
Rangers), was captured at Gettysburg and died 3 months later (Oct.25,1863) at Ft.
Delaware, NJ. Buried at Finn's Point National Cemetery.
Son, George Marion Calhoun, (1860-1898), Butler Co., AL. He later became a Methodist
pastor in TX and AL. Records at Huntingdon College, Montgomery, AL.
1860 Census - J.M. and Mary P. Calhoun live in Precinct 6, Butler County, AL.
J.M. Calhoun bought 444 acres in eastern Butler and what is now western Crenshaw Counties,
AL, and paid taxes on it in 1860.
J.M. Calhoun and Mary Parmelia Thomas married in Dec. 1858 in Barbour County, AL.
1850 Census - Jordan M. Calhoun, 15, farmer, born in GA, living in Barbour County, AL with
guardian, James Calhoun.
1849 Orphan Records, Barbour Co., AL, Jordan M. and Mary E. Calhoun are assigned a
guardian, James Calhoun, and 3 trustees of their inheritance of $6,000.
1848 Stewart County, GA, appraisal and sale of estate of Isaac Smith, grandfather of
heirs, Jordan M., Mary, and Wiley Ann Calhoun.
1848 Stewart County, GA, Marion, Mary and Wiley Ann Calhoun are named orphans of James M.
Calhoun.
1836 Mary E. Calhoun is born.
1835 Jordan Marion Calhoun is born.
1834 Stewart County, GA, Jordan Marion's parents, James Calhoun and Penelope Smith are
married.
