Sorry for the delayed response. Unfortunately I know almost nothing about
the John Calhoun I mentioned in my previous email, other than the fact that,
in 1838, a John Calhoun witnessed the will of my ancestor, Daniel Calhoun,
and the fact that there is a John Calhoun listed in the 1830 Census of
Richmond Co, NC as follows: John Calhoun age 20-30, 1 male under 5, 2
females under 5, 1 female 20-30. Then there are two John Calhouns listed in
the 1840 Census of Richmond County. The problem is, there are so many
Calhouns named John in NC and SC, sorting them out would be a real
challenge. Good luck!

I am searching for a John Calhoun who left S.C. and moved to Lauderdale Co.,
Ms. In the 1840 census he is listed with an Elenor and a Catherine.
Catherine was about 75 and is believed to be his mother. His children are
listed. Could this be your Daniel's brother or cousin.? If so, I'd
appreciate any info on this family; could this John Calhoun have been
married
to an Arminta Brister first in S.C. before moving to Ms. and marrying
"Elenor". I'd appreciate any info.
