Amy, do you have your father's birth certificate? Is his father listed?
If you feel that Fred Calhoun is dead, have you checked the Social Security Death Index?
If he was alive in the 50's, perhaps he survived long enough to be listed there;
listings begin in 1962. There are 49 Fred Calhouns listed here:

If you feel that he is alive, the Social Security Administration may forward a letter from
you to him. Send that letter to the following address:

Of course, include a cover letter with all the details that you know, that would help the
SSA locate the correct person. Some research in 50's-era telephone books and/or City
Directories will be helpful. If you don't live in the Beaver Co. area, write to a
local library or genealogical society for help.
