I think George Washington Calhoun was born in North Carolina and visited
with relatives in South Carolina. He and Elizabeth may have married in
North Carolina.
Her father was just over the line in Georgia when he died and there were
some Calhouns there.

How generous of you to offer to share information! I am looking for info
on George
Washington Calhoun born in NC in 1785---died 1865 in Noxubee
County, Mississippi--married Elizabeth Trimble in 1802. I already know his
descendants -- looking for his ancestors who might come from Mecklenburg
County or Abbeville, S.C. Thanks so much! PLW
