I would like information on William Calhoun and Martha Wimberly. I have never heard of
Micajah Calhoun but there were many of the Dixon families in Warren and Jefferson Counties
in the 1800's then into Glascock County when it was formed in 1856/7.
Do you know the best place to research Barnwell, South Carolina records? I am very
familiar with that area as I had a great aunt and uncle who lived/still do live there.
Henry "Harry" Walden is not a Jr. and Henry is Samuel Walden Sr's son but he
is not the Henry that married Patience Calhoun in 1809. Harry's son Henry Walden, Jr.
born c 1786 married Patience Calhoun. This Henry and Patience had a daughter named Quilla
Walden, I'm assuming after Aquilla Calhoun who I thought might be Adam Calhoun's
father - no proof of same other than early historical records found in Burke and Jefferson
County - Burke County being the original parent county of Jefferson.
Elizabeth Walden who married Samuel Allen is definitely sister to Henry Walden, Sr.
although again this is not the Henry that married Patience Calhoun.
There is a similar mix up with Samuel Walden, Jr. (son of Samuel Sr. of Jefferson County,
Georgia) and a third Samuel Walden who married Winny Morris in Jefferson County. Most
researchers show Samuel Jr. married Winny Morris but a third Samuel is on the tax lists
and later that Samuel and Winny are on the 1850 census records in another Georgia county
while Samuel, Jr. (my direct lineage) is already deceased.
Without the tax records it would be quite confusing.
I am glad to know about the Calhouns in Bethany Cemetery and will definitely arrange to
visit there soon.
I am sending a separate email to you directly with other Calhoun info which may or may not
be correct.
