I do not have any direct info on that bunch, but I am looking for a Sarah
Calhoun in that time and place. I will keep hunting and try to place your
Waldens in the area. Have you checked in Abbeville South Carolina? It was a
major city and connecting place in 1800, and since many families traveled
together it might be a logical next place to look. If the Calhouns came from
Abbeville area, maybe your Waldens did also. Also, what have you been able
to check in terms of ships lists and immigration records for just previous
to 1780-90 or so with Walden names?
Also, I dont know if this is you or not, but there is a whole website of
"unplaced" Waldens:
http://members.tripod.com/~mary_1/Unplaced.html and the
email connection is marty(a)nut-n-but.net
Hope that helps.
My Sarah Calhoun would probably be Sarah with a middle name Francis, as one
of her daughters was Sarah Francis known as Fannie, and born about 1830.
There is a Sarah Calhoun born to a James Calhoun in Abbeville SC in 1830.
Abbeville is right near the GA border, but my Sarah Calhoun is supposedly
born 1830 to a Calhoun family in 1800-1860 Georgia. I have alot on her kids
and descendants, next to nothing on her but childrens birth dates and her
death date. Any help would be appreciated.
Trying to make some connections--
Looking at a map, it is about 60 miles to each side of a big triangle
between Abbevilee SC (major Calhoun family stronghold) , Jefferson County
(your families) and Jasper County (where I have Sarah Calhoun in 1850.)
Baldwin County is directly between Jasper and Jefferson (20-30 miles from
either.) Wilkenson is immediately south of Baldwin.
I am trying to place any Calhouns in that area who may have had a daughter
named Sarah.
What I know so far follows:
1860 Census Louisville, Winn Parish, LA
A.P. Morris 39 M physician 1200 10,000.00 born
North Calorlina
Sarah F 30 F born Georgia
Mary Robertson (corrected to Robinson) 10 F GA
Emer (corrected to : Emma) 8 F GA
Walter John 4 M GA
So that means:
Sarah's second (or possibly third) husband A P Morris was born in NC in
about 1821
Sarah F ________ was born in GA about 1830
Mary was born in GA about 1850 (corrected to: July 1850)
Emma was born in GA about 1852
Walter was born in GA about 1856 (corrected to: 1857)
Going back to 1850 I can only find this possible match that may be Sarah and
her first (or second)husband:
US CENSUS 1850 -District #46 Jasper County Georgia, 29 October 1850
Family 339
William (E or C?) Robinson 26 M farmer 1200 born Georgia
Sarah 20 F born GA
Mary 4/12 F born GA
Elizabeth Martin 30 F born GA
Asa Morgan 20 M born in GA
(FYI both Martin and Morgan families are also listed nearby on census.)
THIS MEANS THAT
William was born in 1824
Sarah was born in 1830
Mary was born in July 1850
We think Sarah's Robinson husband died just after son Walter was born
(1857.) She was remarried and living in LA in 1860 with Dr Morris, who was
supposedly her husband's business partner.
There is a Sarah Morgan who married a William Robinson, and the names on
this 1850 census may indicate that this is that Sarah and not my Sarah
Calhoun. OR My Sarah Calhoun could have married a Morgan then married a
Robinson. Too many possibilities!

Message Board Post:
I have some early tax records for Jefferson County, Georgia that include
information for Adam Calhoun. In 1805 Samuel Allen filed taxes for the
heirs of Adam Calhoun on 236 acres adjoining "Walden" near Ogeechee River.
In 1806 the taxes were filed as Samuel Calhoun 118 acres and Rosanna
Calhoun 118 acres both adjoining Walden near waters of Ogeechee River.
This land totals the original 236 acres that Adam Calhoun owned earlier in
1805. Another entry shows William Calhoun drew land in the Georgia lottery
winning 202 1/2 acres in Wilkinson County, Georgia near H Hardship Creek
in which he filed the tax that year (drawn in 1805).
Earlier in 1802, Samuel Calhoun (no land) and Adam Calhoun 236 acres were
the only Calhoun's in the area. It appears that Samuel had just come of
age to be taxed in 1802.
Next in 1809, John Walden filed taxes for Patience Calhoun for land she
had drawn in Georgia Lottery in Baldwin County, Georgia, 202 1/2 Acres
District 14, Land Lot 129. For Patience to draw in the lottery she was
either an orphan (possible daughter of Adam Calhoun) or a widow. Since
Adam Calhoun married Rosanna this doesn't seem likely (Patience Calhoun
being a widow). Nov 12 1809 Patience married Henry Walden (Jr.) in
Jefferson County, Georgia and in 1810 Henry Walden Jr. filed the taxes for
the Baldwin County property.
By 1810, William Calhoun's land in Wilkinson, Lot 346 is owned by
Elizabeth Calhoun. I am assuming she may be the wife of William Calhoun
and that William (possible son of Adam Calhoun) may be deceased.
By 1810 Samuel Calhoun or any other "Calhoun" is listed in the Jefferson
County tax digests seemingly having relocated to another county.
If this is the same Calhoun family as your research I would like to share
any earlier info you have on this family. It appears that Adam Calhoun
was a neighbor to my Walden family and his earlier whereabouts might help
me locate from where my earlier Walden ancestor (Samuel Walden Sr, born c
1735-45) may have come from.
I would appreciate any help.
