Sheila (and Patsy) This is from Tom Calhoun in Charlotte, North
Carolina.
My Calhouns Moved from Scotland To Castlederg Area in N. Ireland
in/around 1631. After staying there for three generations, and changing
their name from Colquhoun to Colhoun to Calhoun. They left for the
"colonies" on/about 1730. In this move was Patrick,Catherine , their
dau. Catherine Mary Calhoun Noble, hus. John Noble and Four sons: James
(mine), Ezekiel, William and Patrick Calhoun. They lived for awhile in
Pennsylvania and after Braddocks defeat they moved further down the Great
Philadelphia Wagon Road to Wytheville Virginia Area. About 1755/56 they
moved again down the Wagon Road near to or through Salem,NC (now winston
salem) , Salisbury NC, Charlotteburgh, NC, Near the Waxhaws, into S.
Carolina and taking the Road into the Ninety Six, Abbeville Area finally
settling in the "Long Canes" section near the Savannah River in 1756 as
testified by John C Calhoun in one of his letters. My James, now 44
years old and his Mother, Catherine were killed during the Cherokee
Indian Massacre on Feb. 1, 1760 while trying to escape to Fort Moore near
Augusta, GA.
I doubt that this will help you in your search as Your Calhouns landed on
these shores much later. But,......I will be glad to help if I
can......Tom C.

Shiela, You should give a location on the William you are working
on. My
Calhouns , James and Nancy, were in Penn. then Ohio and then
Washington,
Davies co., Ind. where Dr. Robert C. B. their son came from, before
going to
Terra Haute Ind. in the 1840s. In 1870s they went to Kansas,(Osage
co) for
a couple of years and then returned to Ind. Where he died a early
death.
There first son was William. I don't think any of this will help
you, but
if it does let me know. Patsy
