Yes I believe I did and the answer is quite interesting.
1. The line which John C Calhoun was in is the main one found in DNA tests of Calhouns and
represents the line of the old chiefs. Basically I understand Calhouns were really a big
family rather than a clan with lots of different families.
2. A very exciting discovery was finding out that this male line also matches many
Kilpatricks and Kirkpatricks. The first Calhoun used that surname and took the surname
Calhoun in the 1200s. The reason this match is very exciting is because it is quite rare
to ever be able to say that a male line can be traced back to the 1200s. Many people think
that at least in aristocratic lines it must be a common trick but actually medieval
genealogy is not as easy as it look and involves lots of guessing.
So the Calhoun-Kilpatrick-Kirkpatrick match is a fascinating bit of information.
