I have no information on two of the Calhoun children whose father was Charles Calhoun, b.
County Tyrone 1799, mother Jane Campbell, b. 1799 County Tyrone, moved to Allegheny
County, PA in 1825 with members of both Calhoun and Campbell families; my ancestor, son
Charles, b. 1835, moved to MS, where he married and raised a family, and fought for the
Confederacy. His older brother Alexander stayed in Allegheny County, PA, where he became
known for his ironwork; he fought for the Union, directing the building of gunships from
Pittsburg. Alexander and his younger brother Charles met at the battle of Shiloh, and
visited during a lull in the battle (how civilized soldiers were then). Their sister,
Rose Ann, married Alexander Moore from Ohio, moved to Iowa, and raised her family there.
I have never been able to locate brother Robert Calhoun after 1850, believed to have
married a Rankin, or sister Margaret Calhoun after 1850, who also married a Rankin, and
was alive at least un!
til 1903. I have only family letters and newspaper columns written in the early 1900s
regarding info on the two unknown Calhoun children, and their father and mother and
emigration to PA from Ireland to PA. It is certainly possible that both of these siblings
migrated to KY. Have quite a lot of info on Charles Calhoun Jr, his sister Rose Ann
Calhoun Moore, and both of their families. Wish I had more info; am willing to share.
