I have photocopies of 3 civil war documents which have the signature of Solomon Saladin
Calhoon, who was the Lt. Col. of the 9th Mississippi Infantry Company B, if you would care
to see them. Two are simply requisitiion forms that he signed and the other is a letter
of promotion to my Gr Gr Grandfather Michael William Shanahan. S. S. Calhoon's name
appears on the address because it was forwarded to Michael Shanahan through him.
Do you have any connection with Solomon S. Calhoon? He was born 2 Jan 1838 in
Brandenburg, Meade Co, KY and he married a lady by the name of Margaret Davidson McWillie
in 1865 in Madison Co, MS. He died in 1908 and is buried in Jackson, Hinds Co. MS.
He and Margaret had one son, also named Solomon Saladin Calhoon (b 1868 Canton, Madison
Co, MS) and I am anxious to discover if there are any living descendants out there who
might have civil war letters/photos/journals,etc.
