Subject: Re: Cale Family
Thank you for your message. I am not related to the Kail/Caile family of
Capon Bridge. In February 1996 I visited Kale's Hallow where Johan George
Kail lived. I also visited the Romley courthouse and photocopied the
will. I did this because I was researching the Kiehl family of
Pennsylvania.
I am actually a descendant of Johan George Kehl born 1726 who settled in
Berks County, Pa. and married Ann Elizabeth Wagner. Many Cale researchers
claim that this Johan George Kehl is the same one who migrated to Capon
Bridge. I have corresponded with many of these researchers including
Bradford, and Coltvet and I disagree.
My Johan George Kehl had a son George in 1760. The West Virginia
researchers agree with this info. They say that, after the birth of his
son George, the family moved to Capon. However, if these researchers
study the taxables of Berks County, Pa. they will find something very
interesting. A George Kehl appears in the taxables up until 1781.
Beginning this year a George Kehl, Sr. and George Kehl, Jr. appear in
Heidelberg Township, Berks County together! My Johan George Kehl never
left Berks County. Nor should he have. Three of Johan George Kehl's sons
married the grand-daughters of the powerful and influential Conrad
Weiser. In otherwords, the kinships and community ties were too great. I
am descendant from Johan George Kehl's son Peter born in 1751.
I came across the David Kail information and felt it seemed this was a
better possibility for where the Capon Valley settler came from, instead
of my Johan George Kehl.
Please share my information with anyone you feel may want it. I know it
is somewhat controversial because it is saying there is a mistake in the
Maud Pugh book about the Capon settlers.
