Oather Jackson Cales 74,of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 in the Virginia
Veterans Care Center, Roanoke.
During World War II he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific, and later served
in the United States Air Force. Mr. Cales was retired from General Electric, Salem after
30 years of service. He served as a Scout Leader with the Troop at Huntington Court United
Methodist Church. Mr. Cales was a member of the Roanoke Valley Wood Carvers. He was
predeceased by son Lee Cales. Surviving are a daughter Bonnie G. Cales; a son, Oather
Dwyane Cales and his wife Katherine; a grandson Stephen Cales, all of Roanoke. Three
brothers, Lawerence, Frank and Carl Cales, Four sisters,
Gloria Uher, Dottie Caudill, Shelby Pinnegar and Shirley Cales. His former wife, Helen Y.
Cales.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Huntington Court United Methodist Church,
Roanoke, Va 24012. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31,
1999 from Huntington Court United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Patrick will
officate. Interment with Military honors will be in Grafton National Cemetery, Grafton,
WV.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
