Lawrence D. "Red" Cales, 78 of Bomont, WV formerly of Kingston, WV. departed
this life on Dec 9, at Heartland of Charleston.
He was the son of the late Jack and Virginia. He was also preceded in death by his wife
Vernie; brothers Bernard and Oather.
He was a Army veteran of WWII, serving in Germany. A former member of Coal Springs Gospel
Tabernacle, a retired coal miner and a former employee of Clendenin Lumber.
Surviving: son, James Dow of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Virginia Low Hiles of Newport
News, VA and Ruby Brown of Columbus; brothers, Frank Cales of West Covina, Calif and Carl
Cales of Live Oak, Fl.; sisters, Gloria Mae Uher of Columbus, Ohio, Dottie Caudill of
Hilton Head Island, S.C., Shelby Pinnegar of Live Oak, Fl and Shirley Cales of North
Lewisburg, Ohio. 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;several nieces, nephews and
friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to say "a special thanks" to all of Reds friends who
helped him during his difficult times.
And thanks to the staff at Heartland for their compassion and care given while Red resided
there.
Service will 11 a.m. Wednesday Dec 12,2001 at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin, with the
Rev. Ronnie Kennedy officiating.
Interment will be at Montgomery Memorial Park, London
