Some of my random mailings have produced several Cales that I
believe
won't help us with our Henry T. & Idell line, but they do certainly tie way
back into the Virginia/West Virginia lineage.
One gentleman, I wanted to introduce you to particularly, who called me
last night, is Scott Hura. He lives outside of Atlanta, GA. I had sent a
letter to his grandmother, Alice Cales in Florida, who passed away recently,
and my letter was forwarded to Scott. The reason I think you might want to
contact him is his grandfather (Alice's husband) was James Hedger Cales, born
in 1920. Scott inherited from his grandfather, hundreds of Cales photographs
dating back into the 1800's, well notated with names, dates, and some
relationships of the people photographed! : ) His grandfather was devoutly
dedicated to genealogy and left very fine books and recorded family trees!
He passed away roughly 10 years ago, so of course his work was pre-computer.
But I am hoping that Scott's info might help you in some of your other
searches further back...
I have played around with some of the names Scott gave me last night on
the telephone. I haven't concretely tied him in to the tree, but I feel
certain that his line just isn't entered on
Ancestry.com. I did find a Cleo
Goff, whom he mentioned, and I am working with Scott to ascertain which Cleo
Goff it is, since there are at least a couple on
Ancestry.com.
Scott said that he would be happy to help in any way if these possessions
would help anyone. He said that he would go on
Ancestry.com and do some
research himself. I urged him to make the commitment to entering all his
grandfather's fine work on the site in the near future. Hopefully, he will
pick up his grandfather's "fallen torch" and join us.
I also told him that I would pass along his contact information to others
who might be interested in his possessions. Scott Hura

I hope this is helpful to someone... : ) Let me know if it is!
Sincerely,
