Subject: Re: John Cales b c 1817 Monroe Co., VA
I may be the source of the misleading data on John Cales' death. Kesiah
Meadows married ohn Cales (Kales) and had several children. I had two
records on John: one is John Meadows, Sr.'s will of 1848 referring to Kesiah
as "wife of John Cales", the other is the 1850 census which lists Kesiah
Kales with two children, Elizabeth,5, and William H., 3, and no mention of
John Kales. I listed him as "probably deceased" as theres no other record
in VA that I could find.
Now, with ann and John Cales' input and avengger's message I see that there
is more to the story. I always wondered what had happened to Catherine!
She,too, disappeared from the VA record. If this were a detective mystery,
the connection would have been obvious!
I am not clear on one point: Was Kesiah Meadows John's first wife?
