My husband was descended from this Cale line, I believe. Unfortunately, I
do not know much about his research - always too busy with my own. If you
like I can send you a gedcom. Or anyway I think I can - it is always like
reinventing the wheel. If not, I can get this info to you somehow. I don't
know if he has included any documentation into his software, but I can tell
you he was a particular researcher who would accept hardly any facts on
their own. At least, it would give you a start. Let me know if you want
the gedcom, if I can manage to send it. Pat Russell

Message Board Post:
I've posted on the Cale board, but for some reason seem never to have posted
here. And with the many variants of this family name I really should be
here, too.
I am descended from one William Allen Cale, born (according to family
tradition) in Augusta County in 1800. He had a known brother named Preston
B. Cale, born about 1802. I've seen his birthplace given as Rockbridge
county, but I cannot verify this. According to tradition there was one other
brother, but I have never identified him. My William Allen Cale moved to
Illinois about 1836. He shows up in the 1850 census in Clark County, IN as
"William A Cole"--but I can identify him by his listed kids--and they knew
the name as Cale.
I do not know the identification of the parents of these Cale brothers--and
am seeking help on this score.
Given their middle names I suspect their mother may have been an Allen or a
Preston. Families of those names were also in Augusta County at the right
time. William Allen Cale married a Baylor.
I suspect these brothers to have been descendants of David Keel/Kale/etc,
the emigrant who eventually led his sons to Augusta. I have as his sons:
Peter (d.1814 apparently w/o children), David, Jacob, John, and William. I
have records of children for David, John, and William, but nothing for
Jacob. Do any of you know of children for David (the emigrant)'s son Jacob?
While I have various lists of kids for David, John, and William, and have
looked at their entires in the various early census lists, I just cannot
figure out where my William Allen and his brother Preston B. Cale fit.
Any ideas?
