Dear Susan:
My Coldwells left Prince Edward County in 1777/78 right after the war. The
original county clerk there spelled Caldwell by Coldwell and several
families evidently kept it that way. In examining the PEC records I found at
least two or three groups of Coldwells / Caldwells in PEC who settled in
different parts (different creeks) of the county. Wonder if they were all
related (cousins maybe, or more distant?) Many John Caldwells/Coldwells.
The original Buffaloe Creek Church records perished at least for dates prior
to 1800 I thought. My Thomas Coldwell (married Delphia Ballard); would be
interested if you have found any data on them that I may not have (such as
verification of TC's parents; could be either a John or a Thomas Coldwell,
probably Thomas as there is a will). Have you found any data on a John
Coldwell/Caldwell who married a Letitia Fulton, First Presbyterian Church
Philidelphia 8/28/1731? They possibly are same couple in PEC in 1760s and
1770s.
Regards,
Chris Coldwell

Dear Travis:
I don't think our Caldwells connect. Mine are from Prince
Edward Co., VA. John Caldwell who got a transfer from the Buffalo
Presbyterian Church in P.E. County to Sumner Co., TN about 1801 or so.
Does this mean anything to you? Regards, Susan G. Daniel
