Hi Christine,
Do you know where your CALDWELLs were before they went to Ohio? Could they
have been from Maryland? My names are also very similar:
James Peckham CALDWELL (my gg grandfather) married in TX (may have married
before, but don't know) and named his children Robert Milam CALDWELL and
Jane CALDWELL. The Milam was for Ben Milam, a Texas pioneer.
His two known sisters were: Jane Eliza CALDWELL, who married James CALDER,
a merchant in Baltimore, MD. Jane and James CALDER had a son Robert James
CALDER.
The other sister was Anna Maria CALDWELL, who married Samual WALTMAN and
Charles SHEARN.
There may have been other siblings. Their father was supposedly Dr. James
CALDWELL, a physician and planter who lived on the eastern shore of
Maryland. I have not been able to pinpoint which county, or if this name is
really correct. It was written in Robert James CALDER's obituary.
Keep us posted on what you find.
Marianne
Norma,
Your names are also similar to my CALDWELLs who were also in Ohio in early
1800's. My g g g grandfather was John b. 1810. He named a dau. Eliza and
one of his sons James. Also John's brother, William, named his son John
Robert CALDWELL. I noticed Robert is in your list of names. Do you have any
siblings for Jane?
My group went to Ind, Ill, and then to MO by 1850.
Thank you,
Christine
