I am researching the Caldwells in Fairfield and Chester Counties of
South Carolina. Some years ago mother started a family tree for her
side of the family. She was a SC Caldwell who married a MS Caldwell. I
am just starting to work on fathers side of the family.
Mother family started in Fairfield Co. SC in about 1784. The first
entry is Robert S. Caldwell, 1780 - 1841, who came from County Antrim at
age 4. I have a family tree for his descendants up to about the 1980's.
I am working on an update on that. The family seems to have moved from
Fairfield Co. to Chester Co. SC in the early 1900's.
As I rework mothers family tree I am adding known related families. The
added surnames are: Gibson, Gladden, Dye, Dixon, Heath, and Gayden.
Fathers family is a mystery at this time. The old Caldwell home place
was in Bay Saint Louis MS. Grandmother was from Bangor, Maine. I have
a copy of her DAR application.
Any help would be appreciated.

John-I was interested in the MS Caldwells. Rachael or Rebecca Caldwell m.
Samuel Montgomery in MS (I THINK Pontotoc Co.), parents of Mary Ann
"Molly" Montgomery, b. 1845. areas of Tippah Co., Union Co. are also
possible places they lived. Do these names sound at all familiar?
There's a Rebecca Caldwell in the household of John Caldwell in Pontotoc
Co. but this doesn't fit w/ Mary Ann's dob. Any help appreciated.
Thanks. Linda
