re: a Robt Caldwell Sr. b9Jly 1732 m1Jan 1755 Mary Logan This
is a bible record. This Rob't Caldwell was a son of Capt.
John Caldwell who mMgt Phillips in Ireland and led a large
group of Scotch Presbys. to America, landing in PA 1727.
Later Capt John went to VA and secured a large grant for his
colony and most of the group moved to what laterw called

"Subject: Discussion of another 1991 CALDWELL note
early,
Thanks for your discussion of a book which you located at
library. Your information is very similar to a portion
gained by my sister of KY in some of her study. There are a
few differences in detail from your exactly posted gathered
material; there are enough similar points to possibly
consider more double study. I may have posted this >> here
making a portion reviewable by current interested folks,
anyway hers states: The first Caldwells in America were
Andrew and his brother John who settled in Augusta Co. Va.
Margeret Phillips, John's wife in 1734. He was kown as "John
the Immigrant". His nine sons and several daughters are
ancestors of most Caldwells in VA, SC, TN & KY. His son David
Adaline Caldwell's direct ancestor. [My question what does
this mean] The Caldwells originated in Italy ca. 1500 & were
engaged in "liscensed" piracy under the King of France. They
fled> to Scotland where they became lawyers & Presbyterians
in later generations. Sir John Caldwell recived lands from
King James I during Religious wars and built Castle Caldwell
on River Erne in Ireland.
>>>There may be minor or significant differences with
information you observed.
>>>My sister visited significatly damaged Castle Caldwell in
Ireland in 1988.
She lists a term "Connected with James III of Scotand"; I
don't recall if she observed this specific information on
area of her visit to the Castle CALDWELL. Or it relates to
information our GGuncle of London KY (a formally assigned
medical aid during and at least a short while after end of
Civil war who later completed education at Medical University
of Louisville KY) included in his article in Johnson's
History of KY vol.3. This GGuncle named Thomas Peyton
Caldwell (buried as Coldwell) artical states that our
ancestor came directly to east TN County from Scotland rather
than first spend time in Ireland.>>>
------------------
My weak memory of your firm copy mentions 3 early CALDWELL VA
arival brothers, 2 having exactly the same name as two my
sister recorded. I am sorry I don't recall if the dates of
arrival reported are identical.
