Subject: [CALDWELL-L] jcaldwel2: Old CALDWELL postings
Ment to send this before my three prior posts here(+some
replies/replies). I don't remember doing it and didn't see it. I
apologize if this is a re-post.
(Introduction)
I am preparing to send a group of notes that are related to CALDWELLs
and were exchanged in 1991. It was on an INTERNET which provided a very
limited period to see before they were fully dropped. I 'packed' this
group to re-post there on a regular schedule to make them available for
periods similar to other nets. Notes indicate the original authors and I
had re posting approval from them. I haven't had contact with them for
several years (I had brain surgery which blocked me from computer
genealogy activity for a period after 1991.)
In a few years, the system where they had been posted changed to be more
like others (both in cost and setting up an area where files were stored
long term.)
Would be interested if anyone is aware of current addresses of the orig
authors.
There were 12 or so that I posted on old net but they will be combined
to a degree here.
Thanks Jim Caldwell/COLDWELL <CONT>
>>>Old notes begin:
During late Sept thru early Nov 1991 I collected material
regarding CALDWELLs provided to me by several friends at no
charge, from non or past copyright locations. They were
pleased to present that material and my aid to them in
presenting it to new folks, I have maintained a set and
tried to bring it to folks showing interest.
Also I have presented material from a cousin's older
copyright book, I limit volume and have received his
authorization to present that quantity. He, Archie
CALDWELL, produced a larger version in 1995 "Published
for the CALDWELL GENEALOGY ASSOCIATION of southeast
Kentucky (a nonprofit organization to gather and record
family history.) Paid for by donations from families and
individuals." from which I greatly limit material I post at
this time. Copies of that book (may 1998) remain available for sale.
I am planning to post some of the CALDWELL information here.
Posts will include complete unedited copies of material sent
to ALL or to ME. Some others are person to person PUBLIC
posts which include some personal discussions which may not
be significant, I will remove those portions but leave the
remainder intact. A couple of authors later corrected my
notes based on material they provided,I will try to edit
to include or closely post the author's supplied corrections.
Wilma Ranger was connected to much of the interesting
material, she has approved my re posting but is no longer
active in the CALDWELL area.
I have received approval or no complaints from others on
presenting material which I plan to post here.
I want to say thank you to all of them for their beautiful
and extremely informative posts and for exerting the amount
of effort required to get information to me. Thanks
again.
Not quite sure how they will be titled, probably CALD#xx.txt.
If no problems, hope to have them up in next couple of days.
