Hello: John Caldwell, leader at Cub Creek, and his wife, Margaret Phillips,
had a daughter, Margaret. Margaret married William Rodgers. They had sons
John, Andrew, possibly Robert and possibly two daughters.
William Rodgers died in Lunenburg about 1750. Not long thereafter,
Margaret Caldwell Rodgers allegedly married James Mitchell and moved to KY
where they had five children. Does anyone have information about this
Margaret Caldwell, her two husbands and 10 children?
2. Did John Caldwell and Margaret Phillips also have a daughter Ann, who
married Andrew Rodgers and later moved to Laurens, SC with her son, Andrew?
Thanks for your help. Clarke Rodgers

Hi Clarke,
Not sure of the gnerations here... Charlotte Co VA (partitioned from
Lunenburg) has a will of Thomas Rodgers, will bk 1 p 385a -386, dated
6/25/1785. "I allow my land on saludy (Saluda) River south carolina or this
land whereon I now live to be sold if need require to discharge my debts the
remaining part of my estate I leave to my beloved wife" but does not name her!
Willcontinues "my son Andrew 100 pounds out of my lands when sold and his
equal part of all the rest when divided. ...constitute my three eldest sons
then living to be executors of 6this my last will and testament." but does
not name them!!! After the signature of Thomas Rodgers appears a string of
names as follows: Tho Rodgers, Samuel Rodgers, James, Moore, John Rodgers,
Benj Rodgers, James Rogers, Abraham Eeeles, Math Rodgers, Jno Robertson,
Andrew Rogers.
Lunenburg records probably contain more Rodgers, but this is all I have.
I do not believe that John and Margaret Phillips Caldwell had but one daughter
and that was Margaret. John's will is recorded in the Lunenburg Court
records.
