Thought that I would pass this on, as an example of what
can happen when genealogists are hired. This in no way
is meant to imply that this or all genealogists, professional or otherwise
are unscrupulous. As my Mum would say, "forewarned is better
than sorry"...............

In January 1996 I contacted the professional genealogical company
Schroeder & Fuelling GbR after viewing their web page. They advertised
that they had access to archives in Poland and I contracted them to search
a provincial archive in Koszalin, sending them a $300 deposit on an
estimate of $450. They sent me an email in October 1996 stating that the
research should be completed soon. I have not heard from them since in
spite of numerous requests by email and regular mail. Should anyone
subscribed to this newsgroup be considering the employment of a
professional researcher I would advise them to choose a person or firm
with higher ethical standards and business practices than Scroeder &
Fuelling GbR.
