Hello I'm new to list, my name is Irene Caldwell Polkinghorne, married =
live in New Zealand. I was born in Paisley.
I am trying to trace a great Uncle ie, my Gt Grandfather's brother.
John CALDWELL born 1880 Paisley RFW Scotland.
He married a girl Liza ?? and I have a photo of them with their baby =
about 3 months old taken in Paisley before they left for Thoreld ?? =
CANADA. Possibly about 1902.=20
I also have a photo taken of him in uniform, he is in an oval frame with =
flags of the world around him, the scroll at top of picture says, =
CANADA, Souvenier of the Great War. So by his age, he looks about =
30-40, I take it to be 1914-18 war. There is a crest also with laurel =
leaves and a horseshoe with other writing I can not make out. Does this =
mean the Cavalry or Horse something ? Down the bottom it has a moose =
and a beaver. Can anyone tell me anything about the photo, or =
anything about the family.
John CALDWELL(1) parents were, John CALDWELL(2) b 10 Jan 1845 =
Johnstone, RFW Scotland, an Iron moulder, and Agnes BENNIE b 24 Apr =
1848 Airdrie Lanarkshire, Scotland.
John Caldwell (2) father was Robert CALDWELL a Tailor b 1822 Kilbarchan =
Scotland. and Margaret GROVE b 1821 Lanark. Scotland.=20
Any help would be appreciated.
Irene New Zealand.
