Just received your list of Caldwells in the above book. I am interested in
Robert Caldwell, Vol. IV, p. 329 and Vol. V, p. 229. My Robert Caldwell came
from New Jersey to Butler Co., Ohio, and then moved on to Indiana. Are
either
of the above references to this Robert Caldwell?
Dear Norma,
Volume IV, Page 329, Robert mentioned in biographical sketch of Joseph
Addison Okey, son of William C. Okey and Ruth Caldwell as follows:
"William C. Okey married Ruth Caldwell. She died in 1905, aged
seventy-five. Her grandfather, Robert Caldwell, was a soldier in the
American Revolution, and was a pioneer in Southeastern Ohio, living a few
years in Washington County and in 1809 came to Noble County and entered the
first lands in Olive Township. Joseph Caldwell, father of Mrs. William C.
Okey, owned lands on which part of the Town of Caldwell was built."
Vol. V, page 229 - Robert in the biographical sketch of John A. Caldwell is
listed as his son. John A. Caldwell was born at Fair Haven, Preble County,
Ohio, and spent his adult life in Cincinnati, Hamilton County. Does not
give information of father of John A. Caldwell.
It does not look like either one of these Roberts are your Robert Caldwell
who came from New Jersey to Butler County, Ohio.
