have you read the saga of the three Caldwell brothers who came to USA
All
of the Caldwell's in this country are suppose to have originated with them.
They came over early 1700's. They were John, Alexander, and Robert (not
sure obout name Robert without looking it up.) Will copy and snail mail to
you if you want. vmw916
Hello,
Just a nitpicky correction... :)
There actually were more than one group of Caldwells that came over to the
US at different times. The one everyone talks about is the one you
describe, and they came in to Virginia (? is that correct?). I believe
there was also a group that went to PA, and then my Caldwells, which came
over in the 1700's from Scotland/Ireland to New England. In my line I
actually have information that some Caldwells from New England moved to
Wisconsin (several of them actually), Nebraska (an Allen and a Nancy
Caldwell were among those), and Tennessee (yes, one "Isaac Caldwell" went
to Tennessee in the mid 1800's).
Whether or not all these Caldwells are related from back in Ireland I don't
know - so many of the first names are the same, it makes me think so.
Does anyone have any evidence of this? I haven't seen any so far.
-Rich Caldwell
