They are listed in the 1870 census of Lamar county Texas. Nancy and Samuel had at least
one daughter named Armithia (Armitty)"Mittie" Caldwell (Calwell) b.? Dec.1872
and is said to have had three sets of twins that didn't survive. They moved to the
vicinity of Bell county Texas in 1879. I have no information on the deaths of Samuel ?
Caldwell and Nancy ? Johnson at this time.
James Aaron Goad was born 28 February, 1860-61 in Indiana. He is 9 years old on the Lamar
county Texas census, taken 8 August 1870. He married Annie ? Willis on 23 November, 1894

The family names, Barefield and Barfield are interchangeable. Armithia and John Martin had
William Dale Barfield, my father, Samuel Sherman Barfield who married Maude Goad, daughter
of James Aaron Goad b.28 Feb.1860, and a daughter, Vester "Bessie" ? Barfield
who married Dan ? Jackson.
I would very much appreciate any information on these families.
